GCSEPod has been integral in our delivery of GSCE maths this year – our scheme of work has been modelled around learners accessing video and assessment material online and using this to guide individualised learning in class. GCSEPod has been highly effective in this process. Learners have really benefited from the flexibility of accessing relevant content outside of the traditional learning environment, enhancing their understanding and allowing them to focus their learning towards their goals.

GCSE Maths Curriculum Lead and CfEM Project Manager, Gateshead College.

Using a careful selection of GCSEPod’s award-winning content and specially commissioned short, sharp assignments split into 12 modules, students are encouraged to ‘watch, quiz, practise and apply’ their learning in quick succession.

Two new subjects within the “Browse Content” list. Achieve Maths is found in the Maths department and Achieve English is found in the English department. These new subjects are broken down into ten modules. Each module contains a series of individual lesson playlists.

New modular exam playlists found in “My Courses” area. These playlists group together all of the Pods from each module onto one page which is perfect for GCSE revision and consolidation.

20 downloadable PDF workbooks (12 for English Language and 12 for Maths) broken into lessons, reflecting the main skills and topics students need to understand in order to achieve a grade 4 pass in English and maths. Workbooks include a range of question types including multiple-choice and exam style. Model answers are included at the back of all workbooks.

Ready made assignments (one for each lesson) can be found in the assignments area. Simply select, tick your class group, and send.

Ready made questions for each subject are found in the Question Bank. Use these to supplement existing assignments or as “pick and mix” for new assignments.

“Teaching English language resit, one of the first hurdles is overcoming the pupil’s lack of confidence and willingness to engage with the subject.Using GCSEPod allowed me to approach teaching and learning from a new angle, pupils were willing to watch the Pods independently and then complete the Quiz, Practise, Apply. For the more challenging question types I flipped the learning, they watched the Pods at home, and we completed tasks in lesson. We also encouraged them to re-watch throughout lessons as a reminder. GCSEPod engaged even the most reluctant learner and because the course covers all question types we could dip in and out to suit the limited teaching time available to us.”

“Most of the learning takes place in the application of maths, the doing and the practising. We already use GCSEPod but we found our lower attaining pupils were passive Pod watchers rather than learners. The Quiz, Practise, Apply element of these new resources challenges pupils to pay attention to the information on screen and interact with the Pods in a way they haven’t had to before. The resources cover the top ten topics across all papers in a bid to help them master the areas most likely to make the difference between a Grade 3 and 4.”
