St Christopher’s School in Bahrain was the very first British International School to sign up to GCSEPod back in 2012. The school which offers British style education for pupils age 3 – 18, still has the highest usage and downloads of all international subscribers and usage amongst its core Year 10 and Year 11 students […]

The results

It is important that students make best use of their mobile devices, both in school and at home. GCSEPod is one way that we have
managed to keep the focus on learning, rather than the potential distractions of social media. I would recommend GCSEPod to international schools.”

Overview

The St Leonards Academy is a coeducational secondary school with academy status. We spoke to Richard Seale, e-learning leader at The St Leonards Academy in East Sussex to find how he and his colleagues are using GCSEPod and its new functionality to get ahead for the year to come.

The results

“We initially subscribed to GCSEPod as an independent revision tool whilst take up was high and we achieved our best ever exam results, we quickly recognised that it could be used as much more than a student-only resource. This year GCSEPod has become embedded into schemes of works, used as a homework resource and within the classroom.”

Within the space of a year, GCSEPod has found its place within school and has become an essential resource for students. Andrew Rome is the GCSEPod lead at the school and was tasked with rolling it out to staff and students. We speak to him to find out more about his experience.

The results

"I had some reservations about taking on the role as I feared it would take me away from other school priorities. I also thought it would be a challenge to get the ‘buy in’ we hoped for; but I really needn’t have worried."

Stretch, challenge and support students of all abilities

Markethill High School, Nothern Ireland

Overview

Students at this school achiever higher than average exam results, but staff at the school are always looking at ways to build on its success and ensure it is supporting and stretching its students. Principal James Maxwell explains how GCSEPod has become embedded into the school and how it is supporting students across the board, regardless of academic ability.

The results

"GCSEPod has turned out to be not the product we initially invested in, but rather something with far greater potential. Our download figures show that students are using it independently of their teachers, and interestingly it is often the hardest to engage students who access the content most frequently.”
