We are absolutely delighted to have been named Secondary Content Provider of the Year at this year’s Bett awards.

Never has an award meant so much. The awards which are ran in conjunction with the Bett Show, highlight outstanding education sector products, learning solutions, companies and people.  There are most certainly some great things happening in the EdTech space;  my colleagues and I wandered around this year’s Bett show and it would be pretty difficult not to be impressed by the sheer level of innovation on show by many of the exhibiting companies.

So being named Bett Secondary Content Provider of the Year against so many other innovative edtech providers, demonstrates both the valuable role that GCSEPod plays in education today and the increasing acceptance of the huge benefits of technology in education.

We launched into the UK’s school market in 2010, originally as an independent learning and revision resource to capitalise on the growing use of mobile technology but in more recent years have become an essential classroom and teaching tool, used by more than 1,200 schools in 29 countries around the globe.

Our digital audio visual-content across 20+ GCSE subjects across all major examination boards is now used equally between teachers and students; it is used by teachers in the classroom as a teaching aid, as a homework and assignment tool and as an independent study resource for the ‘YouTube’ generation of young people who are used to accessing content on demand.

But the education sector faces some of its toughest challenges in decades; sweeping changes to the curriculum and heightened expectations, together with ever tightening budgets, has meant that only education resources which really deliver value and where impact can be measured are continuing to succeed.

The EdTech sector on the whole is meeting these challenges head on with innovative product ideas. Thanks to our in-depth knowledge and understanding of the education sector and our close working relationships with our subscribing schools, we have been able to respond to the needs of schools with our ongoing product development and as a result have continued to grow year on year.  It is testament to our product and the efforts of our team and indeed our subscribing schools that GCSEPod has become commonplace in secondary schools around the UK and we are increasing our market share in British schools overseas.

Patrick Hayes, chair of judges for the Bett Awards, said that this year the awards received more entries than ever before; seeing some of the products on offer at Bett it’s not hard to see why.  So with so much exciting development taking place in this sector it makes me and the team prouder and more determined than ever to have been crowned a winner amongst such a pool of innovation.
