An insight into REAL student learning habits based on data from GCSEPod subscribing schools
GCSEPod can help shed a clearer light onto different aspects of learning.
Last academic year, more than 4.8m Pods were watched by students in nearly 1000 schools UK and internationally. This year our subscribers have already watched 4.6m and we still have our busiest exam period to go! Here we share some fascinating facts about student learning habits through the week and school year:
75% of GCSEPod usage happens outside of school in their own time!
There is a consistent 7.00pm peak in usage on school days as students settle down to their work after eating/relaxing.
Friday night is a night off for many and twice as many students log on a Sunday compared to Saturday.
There are a few (although not many) early risers on both days of the weekend, but they allow themselves a longer lie in on Sunday! (less than 5% start before 10.00 a.m. on Saturday, less than 3% on Sunday).
A minority of students are working far longer into the small hours than might be considered wise: over the course of the year, just under 5% are still streaming content between 11.00 p.m. and 2.00 a.m. (our subscribers can identify exactly which students this applies to and perhaps offer extra support/mentoring).
In the critical exam period, we see a big surge in usage from 6-8 a.m. on weekdays as students fit in some last minute revision before going into their examination!
They are also watching double the amount they watched during the last term.
Sunday is the biggest revision day at the weekend and they prefer to work in the afternoon.
